On Friday, the Westlake Thunder faced the Lone Peak Knights in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Westlake took a hard 54-36 fall against Lone Peak. Westlake found out winning isn't easy when your three-point shooting is a whole 27% worse than the opposition.
Defeat or not, Westlake got some senior leadership from Jada Willis and Austyn Feller. Willis scored 15 points, while Feller. scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Lone Peak got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Naia Tanuvasa out in front who scored 15 points along with four steals. Tanuvasa is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Shawnee Nordstrom, who scored 13 points along with four steals.
Westlake's loss dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Lone Peak, they pushed their record up to 10-6 with that victory, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Westlake will square off against Skyridge at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Skyridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten last Tuesday. As for Lone Peak, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pleasant Grove at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Pleasant Grove has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
