3A Region I District 4 recap Oct. 16, 2012
Sweetwater moved up to 386 from 439 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 3A Region I District 4. The Mustangs were able to make the jump by topping Snyder 34-27.
Wylie extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Big Spring, 42-24. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Bulldogs.
The Steers' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Tobyn Tannehill threw for 172 and two touchdowns and Devin Roberson had 103 yards receiving. On the ground Tannehill chipped in 142 yards. Tate Kennedy helped Big Spring's passing attack out by catching three balls for 38 yards.
Logan Day made the biggest impact on defense this week as Greenwood lost to Monahans. The 6-foot-0 senior forced one fumble.
6-foot-3 quarterback Kam Williams of the Rangerettes is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1409. He has also thrown 15 touchdowns. On the ground, the Tigers' Brandon Davis has rushed for 698 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Roberson. The Big Spring star has 29 catches for 515 yards.
A big matchup in 3A Region I District 4 this week will be when Wylie takes on the Loboes. At the moment, Hugh Sandifer's team is in first, while Monahans is in fifth.
The Bulldogs took down Big Spring 42-24 last week, the largest margin of any game.
