The Faith Christian Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the West Central Trojans at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Faith Christian has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 24.
Faith Christian's last matchup with Bethesda Christian could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Saturday. The Eagles came up short against the Patriots, falling 20-13. On the bright side, the 13- run effort marked the Eagles' highest-scoring game to date.
Ethan Seubring was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all six of his plate appearances with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Luke Woodman was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, West Central hadn't done well against Winamac recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Trojans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Warriors. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.
Tate Leman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, West Central's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Teagan Holle, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Faith Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for West Central, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Faith Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like West Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Faith Christian suffered a grim 15-1 defeat to West Central in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
