Jackson (Manassas, Va.) came into Saturday's contest ranked No. 17 in Virginia, but was stunned by
Woodbridge (Va.), 17-7. Woodbridge was ranked at No. 65 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Virginia coming into the week.
The Vikings were up 14-7 at the half after taking the lead on a
Jaylen Avent touchdown run in the first quarter.
Woodbridge led by as many as 14 points before the Raiders cut into the final margin.
Greg Stroman made a difference for Jackson. The junior quarterback ran for one touchdown.
Logan Farrar was the top performer for WHS. The senior wide receiver caught one touchdown. He has now scored four touchdowns on the season.
JHS's lone touchdown came on a 4-yard run by Stroman in the second quarter.
The Vikings went into the matchup giving up only 13.6 points per game.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 21-14 win for Woodbridge.
The loss comes after Jackson defeated Broad Run 28-14 last week. The win was a nice bounce back for WHS, which lost to Forest Park last week, 21-19.
