Baseball Game Preview: Green County Dragons vs. Caverna Colonels

Green County has gone a perfect 10-0 against Caverna recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Dragons will challenge the Colonels at 5:00 p.m. Green County will be strutting in after a win while Caverna will be coming in after a defeat.

Green County is headed out to face Caverna after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. The Dragons sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over Glasgow on Thursday.

Drew Squires was excellent, firing off two home runs, three RBI, and one stolen base while going 3-for-4. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Green County lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Glasgow didn't launched any.

Meanwhile, Caverna was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of Fort Knox. On the bright side, the eight- run performance marked the Colonels' highest-scoring matchup to date.

Jackson Corn was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those hits were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Mazin Elmahdy, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.

Everything went Green County's way against Caverna in their previous matchup back in March of 2025, as Green County made off with a 15-0 win. Do the Dragons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Colonels turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
