The Arvada Bulldogs's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Lake County Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Arvada can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent match on Tuesday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 47-11 victory over The Pinnacle.
It was another big night for Emma Ngewasi, who scored 24 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Arvada's points. Carmen Medina was another key contributor, scoring two points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Lake County can finally bid farewell to their 13-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Saturday. They walked away with a 49-41 win over The Pinnacle. Lake County's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Lake County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Evelyn Saucedo, who almost dropped a triple-double on 14 points, 14 rebounds, and nine steals. It was the first time this season that Saucedo pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Maggie Roeder, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Arvada's victory bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Lake County, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 1-11.
Friday's match is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Arvada have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 22.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Lake County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.7 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Arvada and the Panthers were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, but the Bulldogs came up empty-handed after a 48-47 loss. Thankfully for Arvada, Mara Green (who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
