It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Southmont Mounties had no problem doing just that on Friday. They came out on top against Eastern Hancock by a score of 41-34. Winning may never get old, but Southmont sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
It was another big night for Wyatt Woodall, who rushed for 240 yards. Another player making a difference was Nolan Boyer, who rushed for 85 yards on only five carries.
Despite the defeat, Eastern Hancock had strong showings from Mark Kube, who rushed for 136 yards and four touchdowns, and Elijah Edon, who rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries. Edon was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 50 yards.
Southmont pushed their record up to 8-5 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 31.7 points per game. As for Eastern Hancock, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.
Southmont will head out on the road to face off against North Posey at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in North Posey's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last four matches. Eastern Hancock does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
