Everything went the Darts' way against West Field on Wednesday as they made off with a 17-8 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Darts.
Tripp Painter tossed a big game, tossing 4.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Will Nixon, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Mitch Ossmen, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Sunrise Mountain faced Notre Dame Prep in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Mustangs fell just short of the Saints by a score of 2-1. The game marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Ethan Dinnell was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits.
On the hitting side, Sunrise Mountain saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Grott, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
This is the second loss in a row for Sunrise Mountain and nudges their season record down to 5-3. As for Davis, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
