The Tonganoxie Chieftains will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Baldwin Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Tonganoxie beat Spring Hill 50-45.
Meanwhile, Baldwin stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They blew past Royal Valley 69-28 at home. While fans of Baldwin might be used to big wins, the 41-point margin marked the team's biggest win yet this season.
Baldwin found their leader in underclassman Cooper Carr, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Carr is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Talan Torrez, who scored 19 points.
Tonganoxie's win bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Baldwin, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3.
Tonganoxie came up short against Baldwin when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 76-63. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Carr, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine assists.
