Even though the St. Anthony's Friars scored an imposing 63 points on Friday, the Springside Chestnut Hill Academy Blue Devils still came out on top. Springside Chestnut Hill Academy sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 66-63 win over St. Anthony's.
Despite the loss, St. Anthony's had strong showings from James Taylor jr., who scored 14 points, and Nicolas Vieux, who scored 13 points along with three steals. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for him. Connor Mannix was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Springside Chestnut Hill Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for St. Anthony's, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Springside Chestnut Hill Academy and Carver High School of Engineering & Science will face off at 4:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. St. Anthony's is on the road again on Friday and play against Kellenberg Memorial at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
