The Pine Forest Trojans will head out on the road to challenge the Purnell Swett Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Pine Forest focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Pine Forest ultimately got the result they hoped for. They managed a 51-45 win over Overhills. The victory was just what Pine Forest needed coming off of a 79-33 defeat in their prior contest.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pine Forest to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nehemiah Mcdonald, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. Mcdonald is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played. Tristan Lyons was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds.
Purnell Swett had lost two consecutive heartbreakers to Lumberton and they left with a heavy heart again on Tuesday. Purnell Swett was outmatched by Lumberton at home and fell 69-19. Purnell Swett was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-14.
Pine Forest's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Purnell Swett, their loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-10.
Pine Forest took their victory against Purnell Swett when the teams last played back in November of 2019 by a conclusive 80-54. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Purnell Swett's Isaiah Santos, who scored 22 points along with two steals. Now that he won't be playing on Wednesday, will it be that much easier for Pine Forest to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
