The DuBois Beavers will head out to face off against the Meadville Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. DuBois' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Meadville's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
DuBois is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They skirted past Taylor Allderdice 3-1.
Noah Farrell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over 5.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Farrell wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Samson Deeb, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Meadville was able to grind out a solid victory over Erie last Thursday, taking the game 6-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.
Aj Feleppa spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Meadville is 5-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-8 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Henry Desantis-Biggs was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. Jacoby Thompson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases.
DuBois' win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 13-7. As for Meadville, their record is now 8-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. DuBois has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Meadville struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
