The Pine Ridge Panthers's three-game losing streak came to an end on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat University 61-34 on the road. That's another feather in the cap for Pine Ridge, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Pine Ridge got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Travis Jackson out in front who scored 12 points along with 7 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Laird, who scored 18 points along with 8 rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why University lost, one person who can't be blamed is Gavin Gilmer. Despite the final result, he scored 8 points.
Pine Ridge's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for University, their defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-5.
Pine Ridge will head out on the road to face off against Lake Highland Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lake Highland Prep presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Pine Ridge in Florida (Lake Highland Prep is ranked 48th, while Pine Ridge is ranked 524th). As for University, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Halifax Academy at 7:30 p.m. Halifax Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully University likes a good challenge.
