Strasburg is a perfect 4-0 against Luray since April of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Rams will look to defend their home field against the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.
Friday just wasn't the day for Strasburg's offense. They came up short against Page County on Friday, falling 6-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Rams have suffered since May 23, 2024.
Strasburg saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kenley Arnold, who went 2-for-3 with one double.
Meanwhile, Luray also failed to score in their most recent game. They lost 12-0 to Clarke County on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 19 runs in the game before, the Bulldogs' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Madison Eavey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered 12 runs (all of which were unearned) on 13 hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
Luray has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. As for Strasburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7.
Luray's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Strasburg has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Luray, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Strasburg keep running through batters, or will the Bulldogs buck the trend?
Everything went Strasburg's way against Luray when the teams last played back in April, as Strasburg made off with a 19-2 victory. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
