Basketball Game Preview: Bellaire Eagles vs. Ellsworth Lancers

Bellaire is a perfect 9-0 against Ellsworth since January of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Bellaire Eagles will face off against the Ellsworth Lancers at 7:00 p.m. Bellaire has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Bellaire was handed a 24-point loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Central Lake, sneaking past 38-35. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won five in a row.

Meanwhile, Ellsworth had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 37.1 points) and they went ahead and made it nine on Thursday. They strolled past the Comets with points to spare, taking the game 39-25.

Ellsworth's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 19.2 points over those games. As for Bellaire, their victory bumped their record up to 6-9.

Bellaire came out on top in a nail-biter against Ellsworth when the teams last played back in December of 2024, sneaking past 40-37. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bellaire since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
