Westview is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Mt. Carmel is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Wolverines will welcome the Sundevils at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
On Wednesday, Westview made easy work of Valley Center and carried off a 15-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won 11 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Kaya Rodriguez looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 13 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Westview let Sarah Deng and Taylor Thomas run wild. Deng went 1-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Thomas got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave Deng a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamilla Taraila, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Westview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .520. They are undefeated (12-0) when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Mt. Carmel got the win against Ramona on Wednesday by a conclusive 18-1. With that victory, the Sundevils brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
Clara Carter was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Madie Codner, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Westview has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Mt. Carmel, their victory bumped their record up to 15-9.
Westview's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. The Wolverines have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Mt. Carmel, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Westview continue to outrun the ball?
