On Saturday, the Rock Canyon Jaguars faced the Fort Collins Lambkins in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Rock Canyon fell 58-46 to Fort Collins. Rock Canyon has not had much luck with Fort Collins recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Rock Canyon's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alyssa Goode, who scored 12 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Brooke Harding, who scored 11 points along with three blocks.
It was another big night for Avery Alcaraz, who scored 22 points for Fort Collins. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Alcaraz has scored all season. Claire Wagstaff was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds.
Rock Canyon's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-3. As for Fort Collins, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 10-2.
Rock Canyon will head out on the road to take on Legend at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Legend focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight last Saturday. As for Fort Collins, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Boulder at 6:30 p.m. Boulder is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
