Naples (Fla.) snatched the lead for good when they recorded a safety in the second quarter, paving the way for victory over
Barron Collier (Naples, Fla.) 30-14.
After taking the lead on a safety in the second quarter, the Golden Eagles were up 23-14 at the half.
Led by
Tyler Byrd, Naples had given up an average of 14.9 points prior to the contest. The 14 points that the Cougars ended with were well below their average of 24.1 coming into the game.
When the two teams played each other last season, NHS came away with a 42-14 victory.
The loss comes after Barron Collier defeated Gulf Coast 15-3 last week. The win brought Naples' winning streak to three games.
In a non-conference game next week Barron Collier (3-5) takes on Lely, and Naples (7-2) will go up against IMG Academy also in a non-conference game.
