Baseball Game Preview: Southern Nash Firebirds vs. Northern Nash Knights

The Southern Nash Firebirds will take on the Northern Nash Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Southern Nash will bounce into Wednesday's game after beating Northern Nash, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Southern Nash sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over Northern Nash on Tuesday. The game was the first time the Firebirds have beaten the Knights on their field since June 4, 2021.

For Northern Nash's part, Ben Edgerton was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs Edgerton has posted since back in April of 2024. Landon Keefe was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.

The loss snapped Northern Nash's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-4 record. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Southern Nash, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 4-5.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Southern Nash has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Northern Nash struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
