Eugene has gone 9-1 against Linn recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Eagles will be playing at home against the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. The game will give Eugene their first taste of in-conference action this season.
Eugene took an 11-run defeat the last time they faced off against California, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over the Pintos on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since May 2, 2025.

Jeffrey Schulte made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Schulte is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.
In other batting news, Chase Kempker was excellent, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Linn, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They put the hurt on Richland with a sharp 8-2 win on Saturday. The Wildcats not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 12, 2025 (when they won 10-0).
The team relied heavily on Gus Peters, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Kempker, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one double and one RBI.
Eugene's victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Linn, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Eugene has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Linn struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Eugene got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 against Linn by a conclusive 19-9 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
