Miramonte and Benicia are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. Miramonte will square off against Benicia at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Miramonte is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.

On Tuesday, Miramonte came up short against Acalanes and fell 9-4.

Gavin Kelleher was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Kelleher was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. Those runs were his first of the season.

In other batting news, Casey Yung made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Those RBI marked the first that he brought in this season.

Meanwhile, Benicia hadn't done well against Vacaville recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Benicia blew past Vacaville 8-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Dominic Louro tossed a big game, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Benicia got a big performance out of Myles Cooper, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Richardson, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Benicia kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Miramonte's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Benicia, their record is now 5-1.

Miramonte skirted past Benicia 4-2 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Miramonte since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
