Belton-Honea Path is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Monday. They will face off against the Pendleton Bulldogs at 7:15 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Belton-Honea Path made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Easley, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Everything went Belton-Honea Path's way against Easley on Wednesday as Belton-Honea Path made off with a 10-1 victory. The Bears' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Madox Vipperman made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero). He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rhett Turner, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Noah LeCroy also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Belton-Honea Path was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Pendleton had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They walked away with a 9-4 win over the Red Devils. Nine seems to be a good number for the Bulldogs as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Cam Williams was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
The win made it two in a row for Belton-Honea Path and bumps their season record up to 2-4. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to strikeouts: they averaged an imposing nine strikeouts in those games compared to only 3.5 in the others. As for Pendleton, their record is now 4-2.
Everything went Belton-Honea Path's way against Pendleton in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Belton-Honea Path made off with a 13-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Belton-Honea Path since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
