Tipton and Hamilton Heights are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2016, but not for long. The Tipton Blue Devils will head out on the road to square off against the Hamilton Heights Huskies at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Tipton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Saturday.
After a string of 14 wins, Tipton's good fortune finally ran out. They took a 70-51 bruising from Kokomo. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Tipton in their matchups with Kokomo: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the loss, Tipton got a solid performance out of Grady Carpenter, who scored 23 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Carpenter has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jackson Money, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Hamilton Heights came up short against Maconaquah on Saturday and fell 62-54. While losing is never fun, Hamilton Heights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while Maconaquah is ranked 101st).
Tipton's defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-1. Hamilton Heights' record now sits at 7-9.
Tipton beat Hamilton Heights 65-57 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tipton since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
