The Carver Yellowjackets will be playing at home against the Cornerstone Charter Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Even though Carver has not done well against the Royals recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Carver came out on top against the Royals by a score of 59-48. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Carver.
Carver relied on the efforts of Jeremiah Glaspie, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds, and Kejuan Bruton, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Gakeri, who scored no points along with ten rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Cornerstone Charter was able to grind out a solid victory over the Bengals on Wednesday, taking the game 62-51. The win was just what Cornerstone Charter needed coming off of a 60-14 defeat in their prior match.
Cornerstone Charter's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Spencer Knight, who scored 18 points, and D'Trevion Harris, who scored 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Knight has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Spillane, who scored seven points.
The victory got Carver back to even at 9-9. As for Cornerstone Charter, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-12.
Carver beat the Cardinals 67-59 in their previous matchup back in January. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Harris, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 13 rebounds. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Carver still be able to contain Harris? There's only one way to find out.
