The Sumner Spartans put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They secured a 47-43 W over Bonney Lake. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Sumner also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
Lainee Houillon continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 17 points along with five steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Sumner's points. Kessa Nohr was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Bonney Lake's loss came despite strong showings from Jazmyn Shipp and Azy Jackson. Shipp scored 23 points along with five rebounds, while Jackson scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Jackson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Sumner pushed their record up to 8-0 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.4 points per game. As for Bonney Lake, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sumner will stay at home for another game and welcome Skyline at 2:00 p.m. on December 30th. Skyline will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Washington Rankings (they are ranked 141st, while Sumner is ranked 11th). Bonney Lake will finish 2023 at home by hosting Rogers at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Rogers and Bonney Lake are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads.
