The Valley Vikings will head out to take on the Presentation Toppers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Presentation took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Valley, who comes in off a win.
Valley will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Waggener on Thursday. The Vikings put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 17-2 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Vikings' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Kaydence Bailey made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Valley got a massive performance out of Makenna Perry, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases Perry has posted since back in March of 2025. Jadelynn Dixon was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with seven stolen bases and four runs.
Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .788. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Waggener only posted an OBP of .278.
Shelby County hit Presentation with a seven-run fifth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Toppers came up short against the Rockets, falling 13-3. The loss continues a trend for the Toppers in their meetings with the Rockets: they've now lost five in a row.
Presentation saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joanna Logsdon, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another was Lily Denton, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.
Valley's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Presentation, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
Valley suffered a grim 9-0 defeat to Presentation in their previous matchup back in April of 2016. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
