Baseball Recap: Byron Takes a Loss

Byron extended their losing streak to eight on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 2-8 in the process. They lost 15-4 to the Charyl Stockwell Preparatory Academy Sentinels. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Sentinels this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-1 on Saturday.

As for Charyl Stockwell Preparatory Academy, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-2-1. Considering they have won five games by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

For Charyl Stockwell Preparatory Academy's part, they let Aspen Jendrusik and Drew Goodwin run wild. Jendrusik got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Goodwin went 2-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Goodwin a new career-high. Mickey Brown was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with five runs and one stolen base.

Coming up, Byron will face off against Montrose at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles are facing the Rams at the right time seeing as the Rams are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Charyl Stockwell Preparatory Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge Whitmore Lake at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Sentinels' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season.
