Baseball Recap: Raceland Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Raceland had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the East Carter Raiders as they made off with a 12-2 win. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

Landon Bloss made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Raceland got a massive performance out of Eli Lynd, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Lynd also put up a run, which was his first of the season. Michael Pennington was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Raceland pushed their record up to 20-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for East Carter, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-10 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Raceland will square off against Huntington at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rams are facing the Highlanders at the right time seeing as the Highlanders are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for East Carter, they are taking a road trip to challenge Blazer at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
