On Friday, the Atrisco Heritage Academy Jaguars faced the Valley Vikings in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Atrisco Heritage Academy enjoyed a cozy 70-56 win over Valley. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Atrisco Heritage Academy was led to victory by Latavious Morris and Marquise Renfro. Morris scored 22 points along with five assists, while Renfro scored 28 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Renfro has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kadarius Sims, who scored eight points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Atrisco Heritage Academy and bumps their season record up to 13-4. As for Valley, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-4.
Atrisco Heritage Academy will take on Clovis at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Valley, they will head out on the road to challenge Cottonwood Classical Prep at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The timing isn't great for Cottonwood Classical Prep: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Valley has snatched up six consecutive wins on the road.
