In what's become a running theme this season, the New York School for the Deaf Golden Tornadoes gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They put the hurt on American School for the Deaf with a sharp 38-18 victory. The victory was all the more spectacular given New York School for the Deaf's disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 482nd in New York, while the Tigers are ranked 28th in Connecticut).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead New York School for the Deaf to victory, but perhaps none more so than Fatoumata Seibou, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Crystal Pon was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals.
Kim Vasquez and K'Marie O certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Vasquez scored seven points along with six rebounds and four blocks, while O scored seven points along with six rebounds and three steals.
The win makes it two in a row for New York School for the Deaf and bumps their season record up to 9-4. As for American School for the Deaf, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New York School for the Deaf will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on the at 3:30 p.m. on February 6th. As for American School for the Deaf, they will head out on the road to square off against the at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
