Softball Recap: Mission Valley Wins Going Away Against Olpe

While Mission Valley put up some runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Olpe. The Vikings blew past the Eagles 10-0. Considering the Vikings have won 12 games by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Maddie Kraus made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kyplee Jacobson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Keely Chesmore, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Mission Valley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in six consecutive matches.

Mission Valley's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-6. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Olpe, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Mission Valley will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Eagles: the pair will be back at it again later today.
