Football Recap: Rock Port Piles Up the Points Against Concordia

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Rock Port walked away with it. They took their contest on Saturday with ease, bagging a 46-7 victory over the Concordia Fighting Orioles. Considering the Blue Jays have won 11 matchups by more than 21 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Brock Holmes was his usual excellent self, rushing for 274 yards and four scores. Holmes is crushing it when it comes to rushing touchdowns: he's punched in at least two every time he's taken the field this season.

Holmes was just one part of a punishing run game: Rock Port was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 280 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 189 rushing yards in seven consecutive games.

Rock Port's record is now 13-0. As for Concordia, they moved to 9-4 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, Rock Port will face off against Worth County/Northeast Nodaway at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something the Blue Jays surely won't give up without a fight. Concordia does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
