The Sullivan Golden Arrows will head out to face off against the Edgewood Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Sullivan is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
On Tuesday, Sullivan was able to grind out a solid victory over Cascade, taking the game 8-4.
Sullivan let Rachel Eslinger and Jaylynn Hobbs run wild. Eslinger went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Hobbs went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Kensley Wiltermood, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Edgewood). They put the hurt on Brown County with a sharp 18-1 win on Tuesday. With that victory, the Mustangs brought their scoring average up to 7.1 runs per game.
BRYLEE MOORE made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she posted two strikeouts, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, OLIVIA McPHERSON and LIZZY AUSTIN did most of the damage at the plate: McPHERSON got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while AUSTIN went 2-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI AUSTIN has posted since back in May of 2024. SYDNEY AUSTIN was another key player, going 4-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Edgewood hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brown County struck out 14 times.
Sullivan's record is now 9-4. As for Edgewood, their record now sits at 6-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Sullivan hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.2 home runs per game. However, it's not like Edgewood struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.9 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Sullivan came out on top in a nail-biter against Edgewood when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Arrows since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
