Softball Recap: Elizabethtown Snags Eighth Victory in Last Ten Games

Elizabethtown never let their opponents score on Friday. They put the hurt on the John Hardin Bulldogs with a sharp 17-0 victory. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

Aislynn Burnett made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taytum Spiers, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alexys Waisbrot, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Elizabethtown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as John Hardin only posted an OBP of .118.

Elizabethtown has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for John Hardin, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.

Elizabethtown has already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Nelson County on the 9th. As for John Hardin, they will challenge Bullitt Central at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.24 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
