The Monroe Hornets were the 56-39 winner over the Edgewood Cougars when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Monroe took a 49-34 bruising from the Cougars on Thursday. Monroe just can't catch a break and has now endured three defeats in a row.
Edgewood's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Rylie Homan led the charge by scoring ten points along with two steals. Homan is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddy Judd, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Monroe now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Edgewood, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 10-8 record this season.
Monroe will head out on the road to square off against the Eagles at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday. Eaton is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home. Edgewood will take on the Middies at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Middletown focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Wednesday.
