After two games on the road, Roy is heading back home. They will take on the Box Elder Bees at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Even though Roy has not done well against Bountiful recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Roy came out on top against Bountiful by a score of 60-50.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Roy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bronson Belnap, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Belnap pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Dahlen Pontius, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Box Elder was able to grind out a solid victory over Clearfield on Friday, taking the game 61-53. The win made it back-to-back wins for Box Elder.
It was another big night for Elijah Kersey, who scored 18 points along with eight steals and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Max Isaacson, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds.
Roy has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. As for Box Elder, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-9.
Wednesday's contest is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Roy have been dynamite from deep this season, having drained 41.1% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Box Elder struggles in that department as they've nailed 41.9% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Roy came up short against Box Elder when the teams last played back in December of 2021, falling 40-33. Thankfully for Roy, Jackson Mckee (who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
