Baseball Recap: The First Academy Finds Home Field Redemption Against Osceola

There's no place like home for The First Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Osceola Kowboys a 10-0 shutout on Friday. The Royals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.

Josh Garcia looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Max Simmons, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Remo Indomenico, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

The First Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Osceola only posted an OBP of .176.

The First Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Osceola, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.

The First Academy has already played their next game, an 11-1 victory against Timber Creek on the 2nd. As for Osceola, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 1-0 win against Celebration on the 31st.
