The Myers Park Mustangs are taking a road trip to take on the Richmond Raiders at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Myers Park is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
Myers Park had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Ballantyne Ridge on Friday. Everything went Myers Park's way against Ballantyne Ridge as Myers Park made off with a 7-0 win. The victory was familiar territory for the Mustangs, who have now won three contests in a row.
Miles Catchpole looked comfortable as he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gray Anderson, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-2. He also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season. William Jordak was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double.
Myers Park hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Richmond fell victim to Southern Lee and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They fell just short of the Cavaliers by a score of 1-0. Raiders fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Cavaliers since on Friday.
Richmond saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evan Hodges, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
Myers Park's record is now 5-1. As for Richmond, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Myers Park has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Richmond struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Myers Park beat Richmond 9-6 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Myers Park since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
