Blue Ridge is 0-10 against Snowflake since May of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Yellow Jackets will head out to take on the Lobos at 2:30 p.m. Blue Ridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
While Blue Ridge's win against Winslow wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Yellow Jackets had just enough and edged out the Bulldogs 3-2 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Yellow Jackets.
Korti Martinez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Martinez was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Martinez wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kinsley Tafoya, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most RBI Tafoya has posted since back in March.
Snowflake came out on top against Alchesay on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive 11-run fourth inning. The Lobos put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 16-1 victory. The Lobos haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Like Blue Ridge, Snowflake also got a great game from a two-way player: Paisley Solomon. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Solomon has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with six RBI, two doubles, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Snowflake got a massive performance out of Kelsey Scarbrough, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Brooklynn Lovingood was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Snowflake was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .586. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Blue Ridge's record is now 13-9. As for Snowflake, their record now sits at 16-9.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Blue Ridge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .385. However, it's not like Snowflake struggles in that department as they've averaged .364. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Blue Ridge might still be hurting after the 16-2 loss they got from Snowflake in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Yellow Jackets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
