Zay Stephens and Dax McMellon certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Stephens gained 256 total yards, while McMellon threw for 309 yards and one TD. Stephens' rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his tenth straight game with at least 111 rushing yards dating back to last season. A healthy portion of McMellon's aerial production (85 yards to be exact) went to Walker Shields.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lakeside to victory, but perhaps none more so than Wally Wolcott, who threw for 323 yards and four touchdowns. What's more, Wolcott posted three rushing yards, the most he's had since back in October of 2024. Lakeside's leading receiver Drew Morgan was Wolcott's top target yet again, picking up 186 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
Sheridan's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Lakeside, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.
Looking ahead, Sheridan is taking a road trip to face off against Rogers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lakeside, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Robinson at 7:00 p.m.
