West Carteret is 8-2 against Swansboro since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Patriots will challenge the Pirates at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (West Carteret 3.7, Swansboro 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Swansboro will be up against a hot West Carteret squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Patriots never let Richlands get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Patriots have won by exactly ten runs.
Not much got past Landon Quillen, who gave up just two hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep Richlands off the board. Quillen has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Lincoln Strump and Luke Jones did most of the damage at the plate: Strump went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Jones went 2-for-3 with five RBI. Those five RBI gave Jones a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Noah Stover, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Swansboro made easy work of Croatan on Tuesday and carried off an 8-2 win.
Patrick Hollifield was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out 13 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Hollifield was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That home run was his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Josh Scott, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Swansboro lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Swansboro pushed their record up to 12-6 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for West Carteret, their record is now 12-8.
