Berkeley Springs had lost 15 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 0-17 to make it 16. They came up short against Southern Fulton, falling 13-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Southern Fulton this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-4 on Friday.
Berkeley Springs saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Molly Boyles 2028, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run.
As for Southern Fulton, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-9 record this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Southern Fulton's side, Ava Beal was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Beal was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brynley Schriever, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamryn Pittman, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Looking ahead, Berkeley Springs will venture away from home to square off against Keyser at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Golden Tornado have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Southern Fulton, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Fannett Metal at 3:30 p.m. Fannett Metal has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.64 runs per game on average), something Southern Fulton will no doubt try to take advantage of.
