Basketball Recap: Schulenburg Piles Up the Points Against Luling

Schulenburg waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They claimed a resounding 49-22 win over the Luling Eagles. The Shorthorns have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 27 points or more this season.

Schulenburg got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Grace Schramek out in front who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards. Schramek continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jashiya Jackson, who went 6 of 12 en route to 12 points and five rebounds.

Schulenburg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Schulenburg has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.0 points per game. As for Luling, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.

Schulenburg wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 53-28 loss against Industrial on the 6th. As for Luling, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-34 defeat against Columbus on the 6th.
