The Custer Wildcats lost against the Madison Bulldogs back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Custer was dealt a 48-7 defeat at the hands of Madison. Custer was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 21-0.
Madison found their leader in underclassman Cohen Hahn, who threw for 282 yards and three touchdowns on only 19 passes, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Shane Veenhof, who picked up 123 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
This is the second loss in a row for Custer and nudges their season record down to 2-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-2 Canton (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 55.6% over those games). As for Madison, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-6.
Custer does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Madison will head out on the road to face off against Dell Rapids at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Dell Rapids' favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last five matches.
