Baseball Game Preview: Jeffersonville Red Devils vs. Bloomington South Panthers

The Jeffersonville Red Devils will head out to face off against the Bloomington South Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Jeffersonville fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Seymour on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 14-9 to the Owls. The Red Devils' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Braylen Gray and Cole Singleton did some serious damage despite the final result: Gray went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Singleton went 3-for-4 with one RBI. Gray is becoming a predictor of Jeffersonville's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Toler, who got on base in two of his five plate appearances with two runs.

Meanwhile, Bloomington South was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Terre Haute North Vigo, falling 15-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Panthers have suffered since May 10, 2024.

Keagan Palileo made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. That run was his first of the season.

Jeffersonville's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-3. As for Bloomington South, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Jeffersonville took their victory against Bloomington South when the teams last played back in May of 2018 by a conclusive 9-2 score. Do the Red Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
