After losing to the Manchester Valley Mavericks the last time they met, the Owings Mills Golden Eagles decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Owings Mills strolled past Manchester Valley with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 62-47. With that win, Owings Mills brought their scoring average up to 53 points per game.
Leading Owings Mills to victory were Francois Bangoura and Marcus Nelson. Bangoura scored 21 points along with 7 rebounds, while Nelson dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Bangoura has scored at least 25% of Owings Mills' points. Neveah Elliott was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 8 rebounds and 5 assists.
Several Mavericks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was William Cuneo, who scored 8 points along with 9 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Adame, who scored 7 points along with 8 rebounds.
The victory got Owings Mills back to even at 1-1. As for Manchester Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Owings Mills won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Carver A&T at 5:30 p.m. on December 8th. As for Manchester Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Oakdale at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
