Despite the loss, Jamestown got top-tier performance from Ben Hanchett, who rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries, and also threw for 222 yards and two touchdowns. Hanchett got the majority of those yards when he took off on a run and that went for an incredible68 yards. 118 of those passing yards were hauled in by Morgan Vaughan.
Jamestown wouldn't let Nottoway keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Jamestown can thank Conner (Cj) Peay and Brayden Strouse for forcing both of them. Strouse's also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing a fumble and making 11 total tackles (1.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, Essex took care of business in their home opener on Thursday (and then some). They blew past Sussex Central 58-6 at home.
