Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Khalise Collins, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Davianna Irons, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Fort Wayne Wayne smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fort Wayne Northrop only pulled down 15 offensive rebounds.
Lakewood Park Christian suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Saturday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 62-36 walloping at the hands of Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian. Lakewood Park Christian has not had much luck with Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Lakewood Park Christian's loss came about despite a quality game from Ava Mcgrade, who scored 14 points. That was a full 38.9% of Lakewood Park Christian's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Grace Merkel, who scored two points along with four steals.
Fort Wayne Wayne's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Lakewood Park Christian, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-6.
Tuesday's game is shaping up to be a scrappy contest: Fort Wayne Wayne have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 30.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Lakewood Park Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 29.9 rebounds per game. Given Fort Wayne Wayne's sizeable advantage in that area, Lakewood Park Christian will need to find a way to close that gap.
Fort Wayne Wayne was able to grind out a solid victory over Lakewood Park Christian in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, winning 53-40.
