Basketball Recap: West Sets Scoring Season-High Against Northwest

West scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. The match between them and the Northwest Grizzlies didn't end well, with the West Pioneers falling 66-52. The Pioneers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Grizzlies apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Several Pioneers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Delano Hoskins, who posted 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Maholmes, who put up seven points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, West was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

West is on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5. As for Northwest, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

West will venture away from home to square off against Heights at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Heights is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 69.4 points per game this season. As for Northwest, they will host Kapaun Mt. Carmel at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Kapaun Mt. Carmel also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 59.2 points per game.
