Basketball Recap: Mikayla Dorn Key Part of a Team Effort in Cougars Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wauseon, Southview was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They skirted past the Bowling Green Bobcats 29-26. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 41-29 back in December of 2024.

Southview's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mikayla Dorn led the charge by putting up six points and ten rebounds. That's the most boards Dorn has posted since back in January of 2024. Amani Woodard was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.

Despite the loss, Bowling Green saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Emerson Williams posted 14 points and seven steals. Those seven steals set a new season-high mark for Williams. Lila Vanneman also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

Southview's record now sits at 4-12. As for Bowling Green, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-11.

Southview didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 50-27 win against Clay on the 23rd. As for Bowling Green, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 40-22 loss against Napoleon on the 23rd.
